Variety mix
Last night I wrote two separate entries, only to have both of them gobbled up by GoDaddy, my host service. Not cool. An exercise in patience, I suppose. The first was an update on my mom...I'll try that again in a bit. For now, I'll go for something a little lighter. Welcome to the "I haven't written in way too long" smorgasboard, with topics in no particular order!
Reality shows aren't my thing, but they don't seem to be going away - so it's nice that there are a few new ones that are more positive. There's one I actually watched twice, and it was inspiring at a time that I needed a little extra boost of posiitve energy: "Secret Millionaire" was the name, I think. While I didn't dig the overly dramatic "I've been lying to you" schtick at the end, it was a wonderful thing for people to see. A pair with abundant means willingly go into a community that's depressed, get to know folks, and ultimately award at least $200K to one or more of those people who are deserving of some help. It's absolutely fantastic to see the transformative effect on the donors and the recipients. What a dramatic difference from the nightly news! There's another I've seen previews for but haven't watched, a typical mating competion ala "The Bachelor", that untypically focuses on the inner beauty rather than the outer beauty. I'm sure it's a scream. Viva la revolution! Not that I'm going to watch it...I've got stuff to do!
My new pal Anne has some pretty fantabulous stories to tell, totally worthy of being in a book. Fortunately she's a writer, so she has already chronicled some of the tales that (trust me) you will absolutely want to read. I can't give anything away, so I'll just say that this girl has turned lemons into lemonade. Get a publisher already!
I can't imagine navigating this complex, wonderful, terrifying, awe-inspiring world without my sister. I'm so lucky to have a friend, inspiration, comedienne, and lifeline all in one person. Thanks, TT McGee!
I may have mentioned once or twice that I love snuggling with my puppies. About a week ago when I was luxuriating in the last few days of my (very generous) holiday break by having a nap on the couch, I sort of woke up to the baby yawns of Jake, world's cutest Jack Russell. Groggy and light-sensitive, I leaned over with closed eyes to kiss his sweet little face...only to realize that he was turned the other way. Yup, I planted a smooch on his heiney. One tube of toothpaste and a pack of Wet Ones later, I was ready to rejoin the rest of the world. I think I may be warped for life.
I'm off to see the Momster this weekend but after I return, I'm so tapping into the bass action awaiting me in the basement. It's been too long, and I have to get ready for the next project...yeah, don't YOU want to know?
Speaking of music, here's the lastest crap-pop confession: I requested the new Christina Aguilera at my annual girlie Secret Santa swap, and I danced around like a banshee when I got it. If you're sneering with too-cool-for-school snobbery, I invite you to step off. That girl has PIPES!
That's about all I have for now, since I'm falling asleep. Hopefully it won't be another month before I write!
